Dougan of Somerset, died at 12:25 a.m. Monday, Aug. 19, as the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in December 1944. She had both legs broken and had been bed fast and endured much suffering ever since. Mrs. Dougan was the youngest daughter of Henry and Belina (Stahl) Beerits, both deceased. She was united in marriage with Dr. Dougan on Feb. 16, 1922. Her husband survives along with one daughter, Sally Dougan; a brother, John H. Berrits, banker and merchant of Somerset, and one sister, Mrs. Frank R. Lyon, Fairmont, W.Va. A brother, Robert E. Beerits, died in St. Petersburg, Fla., in 1945. Mrs. Dougan graduated from Somerset High School and attended National Park Seminary at Forrest Glen, Md. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset, and was a charter member and one of the founders of the Somerset County Tuberculosis Society. She served as president of the TB Society for many years. She also served as regent of Forbes Road Chapter, DAR, and was active in the work of the Somerset County Children's Aid Society. In addition, she was a member of the Fortnightly Club, the Somerset Garden Club and the Somerset Community Hospital Auxiliary. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Beerits home, Shady Terrace. Dr. I. Hess Wagner officiated. Interment in the Somerset Union Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, August 23, 1946
