  Charles R. "Ray" Downie, 69, 302 Center St., Boswell, died Aug. 23, 1988,
  at Johnstown's Conemaugh Valley Memorial Hospital.  Born June 25, 1919, in
  Acosta, son of Thomas R. and Catherine A. (Keegan) Downie Sr.  Preceded in
  death by parents, infant sister and brother, a sister, Mary Jane Borelle,
  and brothers, John and Thomas.  Survived by daughters:  Penelope, wife of
  Lester Frontz, Mansfield, Ohio; Ellen Kay, wife of Charles Darby, Simi
  Valley, Callif.; and Michele, of Ariz.; also three grandchildren and four
  great-grandchildren.  A brother of:  James, Sharon; Kathryn, wife of George
  Levadnuk, Boswell; and Beatrice, wife of Stephen Gironda, Jerome.  A retired
  employee of Ohio Brass, in Mansfield, Ohio, he was an Army veteran of W.W.II
  and spent his early years in Jerome, prior to moving to Ohio in the late
  1940s.  A resident of Boswell since 1984.  Friends received 2-4 and 7-9
  p.m. Thursday (today) at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where
  service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, with the Father Hilary Brzostowsky,
  O.F.M. Conv. officiating.  Interment, Maple Spring Cemetery.
