"Shoemaker" Druist Sr., 74, Quecreek, dead on arrival Sept. 20, 1982, at Somerset Community Hospital. Born Feb. 11, 1908, in Coalport, Pa., son of Frank and Tillie (Waksmundski) Druist. Preceded in death by parents; first wife, Rella Golden; sisters: Rose, Mary, Verna and Ann. Survived by widow, the former Virginia Myers; and these children: Cecelia, wife of Leonard Kohl, Highpoint, N.C.; Gertrude, wife of Daniel McCoy, Williamsport, Pa.; Joseph C. Jr., married to the former Miriam Weber, Waynesboro, Pa.; Delores, married to Paul Hoover, Somerset RD 7; Lorraine, wife of Tommy Young, Charleston Heights, S.C.; Ronald, married to the former Betsy Kaitenbaugh, Sipesvilee; and 16 grandchildren. Brother of: Katy Kanis and John, both of Portage; George and Edward, both of Cleveland, Ohio. Member of St. John's Catholic Church, Acosta; UMWA; and Jenner Rod and Gun Club. Formerly operated Joe's Shoe Shop, Boswell, for many years. Friends received from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Hoffman Funeral Home, 409 Main St., Boswell, where wake service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday. Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John's Church, with Rev. Benjamin Dykas officiating. Interment, Sacred Heart Cemetery, Portage. Daily American September 21, 1982 [D0913]
