Drummond, 82, of 132 School Ave., Jerome, dead evening of Sept. 17, 1984, at home. Born Aug. 9, 1902, in Shenandoah County, Virginia, son of James and Elizabeth (Norcross) Drummond. Preceded in death by parents; son, James, killed in action during World War II; and infant daughter, Betty. Survived by widow, the former Myrtle A. Polk; and these children: Nancy Gisbrecht and Jane Boyer, both at home; Dorothy, wife of Michael Petrunak, Windber; Melvin, married to former Thelma Burkardt, Boswell; Joan, wife of Ernest Jerin, Hooversville RD 1; Richard, married to former Shelby Burk, and George, married to former Denise Griffith, both of Jerome; Peggy, wife of Paul Beener, Hollsopple RD 2; and Kathryn; 37 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren. Brother of Alice Runion, Mt. Jackson, Va. Member of Jerome Lutheran Church, UMWA and Jerome Volunteer Fire Dept. Former Republican committeeman in Jerome. Retired coal miner and formerly employed by PennDOT. Operated Coffee Shop in Jerome for several years. Celebrated 55th wedding anniversary May 14, 1984. Friends received from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Allegheny Street, Boswell. Body will be removed to Jerome Lutheran Church for viewing from 10 a.m. Friday until time of service at 11 a.m., the Rev. Walter L. Hafer Jr. Interment, Jenner Crossroads Cemetery.
