Drwal, 86, Ohio Street, Boswell, died Feb. 8, 2006, at Somerset Dialysis Center. Born Sept. 16, 1919, in Boswell, son of John and Apolonia Drwal. Preceded in death by parents, and brother, Walter. Survived by sister, Frances C. Drwal, residing with Edward for the past 25 years, and special cousins, Irene Chmiel and Adeline Kowalczyk, both of Schaumburg, Ill., and their families. A 1938 graduate of the former Boswell High School. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Pacific Theater of Operations with the 239th Engineers. Among decorations received were the Asiatic-Pacific Theater with two Bronze Stars and a Bronze Star. Graduate of Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, and a retired social studies teacher in the local high school with many years of service. Had been very active in area oratorical contests involving Somerset County students and also was a respected public speaker. Member of All Saints Catholic Parish, Our Lady of the Laurel Highlands Council 8908, Knights of Columbus (4th Degree), Father David J. Dodson Assembly 2201, Knights of Columbus, Boswell Area Historical Society, Pennsylvania Association of School Teachers and the Somerset County Retired Public School Employees Association. Former church choir member and lector and was a past Grand Knight of Council 8908. A 56-year continuous member of Boswell Post 461, American Legion, and was a past district commander. Viewing from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Allegheny Street, Boswell, where vigil for the deceased will be held at 3 p.m. Friday. K of C Assembly 2201 Color Guard will stand duty from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Friday by K of C Council 8908. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Saturday at All Saints Church, Boswell. The Rev. Father Justin A. Ratajczak, OFM, Conv., celebrant. Committal St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Boswell, with graveside military rite in charge of Somerset County Honor Guard. Memorials to All Saints Parish would be appreciated.
