Duke, 88, of Bakersville, formerly of East Liverpool, Ohio, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 1989, at Berlin. He was born Jan. 8, 1911, in East Liverpool, Ohio, son of Simon Duke and Harriet (Carnes) Duke. Preceded in death by parents, a brother and three sisters and wife, Bertha C. Bailey Duke, who died May 1980. Survived by daughters, Mrs. William (Lois) Lafferty of Somerset and Mrs. James (Barbara) Durst of E. Liverpool, Ohio. Also survived by 3 grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren and 1 step-great-great-granddaughter. Also survived by sisters, Mrs. Rena Pugh, Chester, W. Va.; Mrs. Joseph (Isabelle) Glendenning, Wellsville, Ohio, and Mrs. James (Ruth) Curry of E. Liverpool, Ohio. Employed for 28 years at Edwin M. Knowles China Co. in Newell, W. Va., and 10 years at Patterson Foundry of E. Liverpool, from which he retired in 1971. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Dawson Funeral Home, East Liverpool, where service will be held 1 p.m. Monday. Interment, St. Aloysius Cemetery, E. Liverpool.
