Duppstadt, 73, of Meyersdale, died Sunday, January 1, 2006, at Meyersdale Medical Center. Born June 17, 1932, in Brothersvalley Township, he was a son of the late Clarence and Ada (Dickey) Duppstadt. He was also preceded in death by his first wife Phyllis (Carver) Duppstadt. He is survived by his second wife, Esther (Nicholson) Duppstadt; a son, David Duppstadt, Meyersdale; stepdaughter, Kira, wife of David Schlechter, Hershey; and granddaughter, Brenna. He was a brother of Lois, wife of Daniel Whitacre, Meyersdale. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Korean Conflict, where he served in the Army Security Agency. Dave was a graduate of Stonycreek Twp. High School Class of 1950, Penn State University Class of 1960 with a BS in Agricultural Education. He was an educator in the Meyersdale Area School District for 29 years (1960-1989) where he was a science teacher, guidance counselor, principal, and district superintendent. Dave served as Executive Director of Appalachia Intermediate Unit 8 in the final four years of his career in education. He was a member of various educational associations. He was a member of the Amity United Church of Christ in Meyersdale, the Meyersdale Lions Club, B.P.O.E. Lodge 1951, American Legion Post 112, PSU Alumni Assoc., and Nittany Lion Club. He served on the board of the Somerset Co. Federated Library System, and Meyersdale Public Library. He was a former member and past president of the Meyersdale Area Ambulance Assoc. An avid outdoorsman, Dave loved hunting and golf. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday (today) at the Price Funeral Home, Meyersdale, where service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday, with the Rev. Bruce Ashlock and the Rev. Daniel Whitacre officiating. Interment, Hay's Mt. Zion UCC Cemetery, Brothersvalley Twp. Memorials may be made to the Meyersdale Public Library.
