DURST Charles Gring Durst, retired farmer, died at his home in Elk Lick Township, near the state line, at 11:55 p.m. on Saturday, February 10, of generalized arterio-sclerosis. Mr. Durst had been ill for four years, and finally passed away in the only house he has ever lived in, leaving the memory of a fine and kindly gentleman in the hearts of all who knew him. Mr. Durst was born on July 3, 1867, son of Phenis and Lucy (Schrock) Durst, and was 77 years, 7 months and 3 days in age at his death. He was born and raised in the house in which he died, and on May 23, 1900, was married to Miss Margaret Yommer in the same house. He is survived by one daughter, Lela, wife of Lester Opel, who lived with him; a foster daughter, Catherine, wife of John Cochrane of Mather, Pa., and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife and son, Homer. He was a lifelong member of St. John's Evangelical and Reformed Church. Funeral services were conducted in the home at 2:00 p.m., and in the Reformed Church at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 14, with Rev. Ira S. Monn officiating. Interment in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in charge of Mortician Stanley M. Thomas. Meyersdale Republican, February 15, 1945
