"Jack" Durst, 65, of 97 Main Street, Grantsville, Md., died July 13, 1987 at his home. Born near Grantsville, Md., he was a son of the late Leroy and Ruth (Patton) Durst. Employed as a mechanic at Hill Top Inn, he was a veteran of World War II and a member of the American Legion, Baltimore, Md. Surviving are his widow, Phyllis (Garlitz) Durst; two sons: Edward Durst, Bladensburg, Md.; John Durst, Riverdale, Md.; a daughter, Margaret Ann "Peggy" Chochram, Manassas, Va.; five sisters: Freda Handwerk, Eva Ely and Emma Jean Kaefer, all of Grantsville, Md.; Edna Hare, Belle Vernon; and Frances Means, Cumberland, Md.; three grandchildren, and one step-grandchild. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home, where services were conducted by the Rev. Paul Yoder. Interment will be in Grantsville Cemetery. The Republic, July 16, 1987 [D1053]
