  Edison Loy Durst, 82, of 2383 Devil's Half Acre Rd., Accident, Md., died
  Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997, at Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md.
  
  Born Dec. 7, 1915, in Grantsville, Md., he was a son of the late Jefferson
  and Lettie (Platter) Durst.  He was also preceded in death by a daughter,
  Diane E. Durst, and two brothers, Ralph and Ernest Durst.
  
  Mr. Durst was employed as a truck driver for Quinn Trucking and was an Army
  veteran of World War II.  He was a member of the Laughlin Church of the
  Brethren, where he served as a deacon, and the Grantsville Post 214,
  American Legion.  
  
  He is survived by his wife, Lula V. (Bittinger) Durst; eight sons: Dennis
  W, Durst, Gaithersburg, Md.; Wayne L. Durst, Hagerstown, Md.; Lynn Mitchell
  Durst and Gary W. Durst, both of Frederick, Md.; Roger L. Durst and Neil M.
  Durst, both of Accident; Merle S. Durst of Meyersdale and Edison R. Durst of
  Grantsville; and three daughters: Donna K. House, Ravenna, Ohio; Judy K.
  Stanton, Boonsboro, Md.; and Sondra S. Vought, Meyersdale.  He is also
  survived by 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
  
  Friends were received at Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, where services
  were conducted Dec. 27, with the Revs., Owen Preston and Ross Glotfelty
  officiating.  Interment, Grantsville Cemetery.  Military graveside rites
  were accorded by Grantsville Post 214, American Legion.
