Born Dec. 7, 1915, in Grantsville, Md., he was a son of the late Jefferson and Lettie (Platter) Durst. He was also preceded in death by a daughter, Diane E. Durst, and two brothers, Ralph and Ernest Durst. Mr. Durst was employed as a truck driver for Quinn Trucking and was an Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the Laughlin Church of the Brethren, where he served as a deacon, and the Grantsville Post 214, American Legion. He is survived by his wife, Lula V. (Bittinger) Durst; eight sons: Dennis W, Durst, Gaithersburg, Md.; Wayne L. Durst, Hagerstown, Md.; Lynn Mitchell Durst and Gary W. Durst, both of Frederick, Md.; Roger L. Durst and Neil M. Durst, both of Accident; Merle S. Durst of Meyersdale and Edison R. Durst of Grantsville; and three daughters: Donna K. House, Ravenna, Ohio; Judy K. Stanton, Boonsboro, Md.; and Sondra S. Vought, Meyersdale. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren. Friends were received at Newman Funeral Home, Grantsville, where services were conducted Dec. 27, with the Revs., Owen Preston and Ross Glotfelty officiating. Interment, Grantsville Cemetery.
