A son of Henry and Barbara (Harr) Durst, he was born at Jennings May 13, 1897, and has resided there his lifetime. He married Miss Ida Broadwater, who survives, with one daughter, Mrs. Blanche Hetrick; two sons, Delbert Durst and William Durst, one brother, Harry Durst; three sisters, Mrs. Lee Broadwater, Mrs. Harvey Bittinger and Mrs. M. Fazenbaker, all of near Jennings. He was a member of the Methodist Church and a World War I veteran. Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at the Jennings Methodist Church, Rev. D. J. Combs, the pastor, officiating. Mrs. Harry Hoover and Mrs. Harry Yommer sang "Beyond the Sunset," "Be Thou Near" and "Some Time We'll Understand." The Grantsville American Legion Post 214, conducted military rites at the grave in the Grantsville Cemetery under the command of Wayne H. Durst. The pall bearers were Harvey Gortner, A. A. Hanft, Jonas McKenzie, D. W. Hershberger, Luther Huff and Edgar Bender. Meyersdale Republican, November 11, 1948
