Durst, of Grantsville RD 2, was discovered August 30, 1977, at approximately 8:45 p.m. in a stable behind his residence. According to a spokesman for the Maryland State Police, the body was taken to Sacred Heart Hospital, Cumberland, Md., where the cause of death was determined to be asphyxiation due to aspiration of stomach contents. The body was discovered by a brother. A native of Meyersdale, he was a son of Carl Durst and the late Shirley (Morrison) Durst. A 10th grade student at Northern High School, he was a member of Jennings Church of God. Surviving, in addition to his father, are three brothers, Robert Durst, Carl R. Durst and Gerald Durst, all at home; six sisters, Mrs. Debbie Bittinger, Frostburg, Md.; Susan Durst, Barbara Durst, Daren Durst, Ethel Durst and Melissa Durst, all at home and paternal grandmother, Mrs. Ethel Durst, Grantsville, Md. Funeral services were conducted Friday at the Newman Funeral Home with Rev. George Plance officiating. Interment, Bittinger Cemetery. The Republic, September 8, 1977 [D1090]
