DURST Last rites for Pvt. Marshall O. Durst of near Avilton, Md., who was killed in England on April 23, 1943, were held Wednesday afternoon in Mt. Zion Methodist Church. The Rev. D. J. Combs, pastor, officiated. Reburial services in the church cemetery were conducted by Grantsville Post No. 214, American Legion, with Commander Wayne H. Durst in charge, with color guard and firing squad. Chaplain Ray Jenkins conducted the ceremony. Pvt. Durst was born January 1, 1919, at Shade Mills, Md., a son of Wilbur and Nellie (Hetz) Durst. He was graduated from Grantsville High School in 1936 and entered the armed service in May, 1941. He was sent overseas in September, 1942. Besides his parents, he is survived by a brother, Russell C. Durst of Moscow, Md., and four sisters, Miss Anna Durst of Cumberland, Mrs. Jennie Stark of Avilton, Mrs. Laura Turner of Grantsville and Mrs. Ethel Garlitz of Baltimore. He was a member of the Woodmen of the World, camp No. 41. Meyersdale Republican, July 29, 1948
