MARSHALL W. DURST

Grantsville, Maryland

  Marshall Wesley Durst, aged 69 years, died at his home near Avilton, Wednesday 
night, April 8, from pneumonia.  He was born Jan. 3, 1862, at Shade Mills, where 
he lived a number of years and farmed a small tract of land.  Recently he was 
telephone operator at Avilton.  He is survived by his wife, who was Miss Sarah 
Layman, and the following children:  Marshall R. Durst and Ira G. Durst, 
Chicago, Ill.; Harry O. Durst, Johnstown, Pa.; Charles F. Durst, Cumberland; 
Mrs. Claude Steel, Lonaconing; Miss Zola E., Perry B., and George C., W. 
Sheridan and Norman B., all at home.  Funeral services were held Saturday 
morning at his home.  Rev. A. C. Bell officiated.  Interment was made in the Mt. 
Zion Methodist Church Cemetery.
