Born September 14, 1934, in Accident, MD, he was a son of the late William Henry and Lettie (Jennings) Durst. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Pauline M. "Polly" (Hunt) Durst, June 21, 2005 and three brothers: Olen, Lester, and Roy Durst. Surviving are three daughters: Lisa Frye and husband, Tom, Friedens; PA, Karen Winebrenner and husband, Brian, Salisbury; Debbie Durst and companion, James Stephens, Salisbury; one step-daughter: Linda Duncan and husband, Michael, Ridgeley, WV; two sisters: Bettie Moser, Severna Park, MD, Mary Alice Beitzel, Salisbury; one granddaughter, Miranda Durst; two step grandsons, Adam and Jared Duncan. Special friends, Ron and Dawn Hampe and their children: Brittany and Erika, whom he loved dearly and special canine granddaughter; Pebbles Frye, who loved him very much and loved to give him kisses. Mr. Durst was a member of Springs Mennonite Church, a U.S. Army veteran, member of Army Band and worked part time at Lindeman's Garage. He was a self-employed carpenter. Friends were received at Newman Funeral Homes, Inc., 9168 Mason-Dixon Hwy., Salisbury, PA on Friday, June 9 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Services were conducted in the funeral home on Saturday, June 10, 2006 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. David E. Fetter officiating. Interment was held in Springs Cemetery. Military graveside rites was accorded by local veteran's organizations.
