Eakin Jr., 66, of Somerset RD 4, died Aug. 22, at his residence. Born April 4, 1923, in Washington, Pa., son of the late Fred W. and Nellie Marie (Tennant) Eakin Sr. Survived by his wife, the former Inez D. Miller, and children Mrs. Larry D. (Yvonne) Ankeny, Somerset RD 4, and Jeffrey L. Eakon, Hudson, Ohio, also five grandchildren. Brother of Glade A. Eakin and Mrs. James (Patti) Glendenning, both of Washington, Pa. Retired park superintendent for the Pennsylvania Dept. of Environmental Resources. Veteran, US Marine Corps, WWII. Member of First United Methodist Church, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion, the Disabled American Vets Assoc., the 1st Marine Corps Division Assoc., the American Historical Foundation, and the Pa. State Parks Alumni Assoc. Friends received 2-4 and 7-9 pm Thursday at Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, where service is 10:30 am Friday, the Rev. Dr. Arthur Gotjen officiating.
