"Jim" Eaton, 69, of 430 Arch Street, Cumberland, Md., died Sunday, July 16, 1989, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md. Born Dec. 18, 1919, in Meyersdale, he was the son of the late Clayton S. and Anna Laura (Hersh) Eaton. He was a retired employee of Garlitz' Grocery Store, Grand Avenue, and was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church, the Cumberland Moose Lodge 271 and the El Fidel Club. He served in the 347th Fighter Squadron and the 350th Fighter Group with the Army Air Corps during WWII. Surviving are his widow, Helen, I. (Ganoe) Eaton; one step-daughter, Mrs. Joan L. Rogers, Cumberland, Md.; one brother, Roy C. Eaton, Martinsburg, WVa; one sister, Mrs. Anna Lease, Russellsville, Ohio; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Friends were received at the Scarpelli Funeral Home, Virginia Ave, where services were conducted Tuesday at 1pm by the Rev. Wayne Turner. Interment, Davis Memorial Cemetery.
