Eberhart, 91, of Columbus, Ohio died June 11, 2000 at Riverside Methodist Hospital in Columbus. He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Grethel Y. Eberhart in 1979, and by a sister, Ruth Ellenberger. He is survived by his son, Guy F. Eberhart Jr. and his wife Anne, of Charlotte, NC.; great-grandchildren, Jonathan Patrick Eberhart, Theodore William Eberhart, and Anne Elizabeth Earnshaw, and nephews, Dale Ellenberger and Carl Ellenberger. He graduated from Germantown, Pa. High School, Class of 1926. He then attended California Normal School and began teaching at the age of 18. He then went on to receive his bachelor of science in education in 1936, his master's degree in 1947, both from West Virginia University and later, his doctorate from the University of Pittsburgh in 1953. He had also served as lieutenant in the US Navy during WWII. He began his career as a math and science teacher in Uniontown. Later, he became a principal and superintendent for Somerset schools, assistant superintendent for Abington schools and superintendent for Bristol schools. He retired in 1961 with 25 years of service. He then served as superintendent for Willoughby-Eastlake Schools in Willoughby, Ohio, retiring in 1968. He then became an instructor for Lake Erie College for Women and assistant dean at Garfield Senior College until 1973. This completed a 46 year career in education which he thoroughly enjoyed. he then moved to Columbus and was a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church where he was an active member of the retiree's group. He was a member of Laurel Lodge 651 F&AM for over 50 years,; Scottish Rite, Valley of Pittsburgh; Aladdin Shrine Temple, and Northwest Kiwanis, he was also a life member of Phi Delta Kappa and the Council of Parents & Teachers Association and enjoyed gardening, swimming and golf. Friends will be received 2-4 and 6-8 pm Wednesday at Schoedinger Northwest Chapel, 1740 Zollinger Road, Columbus where funeral service will be held at 10am Thursday, Rev. Thomas G. Albaum will officiate. Interment will follow at Glen Rest Memorial Estate, Reynoldsburg, Ohio. A Masonic Service will be held at 7:30pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
