  BERTHA ECKMAN
  
    Bertha E. Eckman, 88, of Siemon's Lakeview Manor Estate, formerly of
  Berlin, passed away Nov. 5, 2000 at the Manor.  Born Oct. 4, 1912 in
  Brothersvalley Twp., a daughter of the late Frank and Augusta (Olson)
  Eckman.  Preceded in death by brothers Frank, Andrew, and Charles and
  sisters Annie, Ellen, Emma, Christina, Ethel and Augusta.  She was a retired
  school teacher with 46 years of service in Garrett borough and Somerset Area
  Schools.  She was also a life member of the Pa. State Education Assiciation
  and the National Education Association.  Member of St. Michael's Lutheran
  Church in Brothersvalley Twp.  She was secretary of the Somerset County
  Sunday School Teachers' Association for many years.  Friends will be
  received from 2-9 pm Tuesday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset.  A funeral
  service will be held at 1pm Wednesday at St. Michael's Lutheran Church with
  pastor Gene Abel officiating and pastor Melvin Kirk assisting.  Interment
  Pine Hill Cemetery in Brothersvalley Twp.
