Born Jan. 11, 1938, in Berlin, daughter of Frank and Grace (Swearman) Eckman. Survived by parents; a brother, William, LaPlata, Md,; and two sisters: Mrs. Jean Bennett, Woodstock, NY; and Mrs. Nancy Heil, Somerset. At the time of her death, Dr. Eckman was an associate professor of physical education at Lock Haven University, Lock Haven, Pa. She had a long and successful career in coaching women's basketball teams at New Palz, NY, West Chester, Pa., Indiana, Pa. and Lock Haven universities. In 1985, she received a national service award from the Woman's Basketball Coach's Association as the person who contributed the most to women's baskektball. She was a member of the Messiah Lutheran Church of new Centerville and many professional societies and associations. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 pm Friday in the William J. Wood Funeral Home, Rockwood, and until 11:30 am Saturday when the remains will be removed to the Messiah Lutheran Church, New Centerville, to lie in state from 12:30 until 1:30 pm, the time of service, with their pastor, the Rev. Gregory Pile officiating. Intement will follow at Union Cemetery, Meyersdale. Contributions can be made to the Carol Eckman Scholarship Fund in care of Lock Haven University Foundation, Lock Haven, Pa. 17745. Arrangements under the direction of the William J.
