Edgar, 60, Grantsville, died at 12:05, Sunday, May 2, in Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, where he had been a patient for 17 days following a major operation. Born in Pittsburgh, Pa., February 4, 1888, he was the son of the late William H. and Adeline Pysell Edgar. A veteran of Army service in World War I. Mr. Edgar was employed at Motor Service Garage in Grantsville for 21 years. He was shop foreman for 15 years and body foreman for six years. He was a member of the German Lutheran Church, Accident, Md. Besides his widow, Mrs. Dora Kahl Edgar, he is survived by four daughters - Mrs. Oney Brenneman and Mrs. Billy Yoder, both of Meyersdale, Pa., and the Misses Dorothy and Margaret Edgar at home; seven sons - Woodrow C. Edgar, who recently returned to this country after having served in Germany with the Army; George F., John F., Olen C., Otis W., Dennis E. and Allen C. Edgar, all of Grantsville; one sister, Mrs. J. A. Miller, Oregon City, Ore., and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be held in Accident Lutheran Church, Friday at 2 p.m. Rev. C. F. Dolphin, the pastor, will officiate. Full military services will be conducted at the grave in the church cemetery, Accident, by the Grantsville American Legion Post, 214. The body is at his home on Route 40, two miles east of Grantsville. Meyersdale Republican, May 6, 1948 WILLIAM D. EDGAR Funeral services for William D. Edgar, 60, an employe of the Motor Service Company for 21 years, who died at the Memorial Hospital, Sunday, May 2, following an illness and major operation were held at the German Lutheran Church, Accident, Friday afternoon, May 7. Rev. C. F. Dolphin, the pastor, officiated. The American Legion Post 214, Grantsville, conducted full military rites at the grave in the church cemetery. Wayne H. Durst, sergeant at arms, was in charge. The pall-bearers were A. A. Hanft, C.C. Nathan, Glen Boonie, Tom Bender, James Blocher, Jimmie George. The color guard included James Beachy, Burton Glotfelty, Cecil Edwards and William Layman; buglar, Herbert Hersker; firing squad - Robert Bender, Kenneth Edwards, James Edwards, Glen Miller, Gideon Durst, Fay Miller and William Miller. Relatives from a distance, who attended the funeral, were Mr. and Mrs. Adam Miller of Oregon City, Ore.; Mr. and Mrs. Alfred George and daughter of Hartville, O.; Mr. and Mrs. Oney Brenneman and son, Mr. and Mrs. William Yoder and daughters, Meyersdale.
