Edwards, aged 79 years, former magistrate and retired local garageman, died at his home at noon Thursday, May 1, from a cerebral hemorrhage. In failing health for two years, from a heart ailment and complications, he became seriously ill and took to his bed on Wednesday, April 30. He was born April 16, 1868, at Liberty, Sullivan County, N.Y. On April, 1890, he married Miss Carrie Yeager of DuBois, Pa., who died May 29, 1904. His second wife, Miss Anna Myers of Oakland, Md., whom he wed April 19, 1911, died December 18, 1943. He was employed by the Kendall Lumber Co. at Sand Patch, Pa., and Crellin, Md., for a number of years. Mr. Edwards came to Grantsville in July, 1921, and he and his son, Harry, took over the garage of Daniel Klotz and continued the business under the name of Grantsville Garage. In November, 1938, he retired from the garage in which he had been very successful, and served as a magistrate in Grantsville for three years. In his younger years he was active in Sunday School work and Church circles at Crellin. However he was not affiliated with any religious sect. Following the death of his second wife he lived with his son, Harry in Grantsville. He made many friends among the townspeople, especially among the children. He manifested an active interest in the town's activities and business affairs and was a highly respected citizen. Surviving are four other children by his first wife: Mrs. C. E. (Ethel) Ashby; George D. Edwards, Grantsville; Mrs. J. J. (Edna) Ashby, Oakland, and William G. Edwards, Baltimore. Another child died in early life. A daughter of his second wife, Mrs. James (Dorothy) Frame, of Kingwood, W.Va., survives. He also leaves a brother, Ira D. Edwards, and two sisters, Mrs. Fred Willi and Mrs. Lana Ray, Liberty, N.Y.; also 20 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:30 at his home and was attended by many relatives and friends. Rev. D. J. Combs, pastor of the Grantsville Methodist Church officiated. His text, from the 90th Psalm, was "So teach us to number our days that each day we may apply our hearts in wisdom." Rev. Combs paid tribute to Mr. Edwards with a poem, "Look Towards the Sunset," by George Thomas Dowling. A quartet composed of Mr. and Mrs. Harry J. Bender, Mrs. Herbert Ringer and Olen Yoder, sang "Come Ye Disconsolate" and "Sometime Somewhere," with Mrs. Marshall Landis accompanying at the piano. These grandsons were casket-bearers: Richard and George Edwards, Baltimore; Kenneth, Clayton, Verle and James Edwards, Grantsville. The many floral tributes expressed the high esteem in which he was held by his relatives and friends. Interment was in the family lot in the Hochstetler Cemetery near Meyersdale. Ashby and son, Harold, Oakland; Mr. and Mrs. Chandler Edwards, White Sulpher Springs, N.Y.; Mrs. Abel Gregory, Liberty, N.Y.; Mr. and Mrs. Roy Wilson and daughter, Peggy, Elwood City, Pa.; Mr. and Mrs. Frank Galusha and daughter, Helen, Mr. and Mrs. Harold Galusha, Mr. and Mrs. James Fritchler, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Fairchilds, all of Morgantown, W.Va.; Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Morris and daughter, Margaret, Cumberland; Mrs. Elmede S. Moore, Barnesville, O.; George Simpson, Dellslow, W.Va.; Mrs. Arch Cook and son, Mrs. Arthur Broadwater, Lonaconing; Mr. and Mrs. Forest Simpson, Ethel and Elmer Simpson, Nikep, Md.; Mr. Oscar Schaeffer, Marshall Sanders, Mrs. Ellen Graham and Earl Fraley, Crellin, Md.; Mr. and Mrs. Lee Ashby and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Burton Ashby, Mr. and Mrs. Glen Ashby, and Mrs. Linnie Felton, Cornith, Md.; Mr. and Mrs. Rolland Schrock and son, Mr. and Mrs. Spencer Grahame, Mrs. S.
