Kenneth Edwards, 70, of 134 Main Street, Grantsville, Md., died Monday, Jan. 16, 1989, at Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md. Born May 17, 1918 in Crellin, he was the son of the late George D. and Iva E. (Thompson) Edwards. His first wife, Audrey (Hardesty) Edwards, died in 1960. He was a retired clerk and parts manager at the Edwards Garage in Grantsville, Md. He was also a retired steward for Grantsville Post 214 American Legion, and a retired employee of the Newman Funeral Home. An Army veteran of WWII, he served as a private first class in Italy. He was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church; a charter member of American Legion Post 214; a member of Camp 41, Woodmen of the World, Grantsville; and a charter member and honorary member of the Northern Garrett County Rescure Squad. Survivors include his widow, Arlena E. (Boyer) Edwards; one son, William George Edwards, Frostburg, Md.; two step-sons, Stephen Bender and Blake Garliltz, both of Grantsville, Md.; one daughter, Judith Ann Lawson, Grantsville, Md.; one stepdaughter, Ramona Hummel, Seattle, Wash; two brothers, Verl Edwards, Fairfield, Calif.; and Jim Edwards, Fruitland, Md.; six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Home where services were conducted Thursday at 11 am by the Rev. Joseph Upole. Interment, Grantsville Cemetery.
