Ellenberger, 81, Wapwallopen, Pa., a retired minister with The Christian and Missionary Alliance, passed into the presence of the Lord, Dec. 28, 2000, at his home. He was born in South Fork, Pa., Nov. 14, 1919, the son of Rev. and Mrs. Robert Ellsworth (Yoder) Ellenberger, who preceded him in death. He was married to Eva May Ziegel in 1943, and they celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary Aug. 28, 2000. He was graduated from Nyack Missionary College in June 1944 and began his ministry in August of that year in Scottdale, Pa. During his ministry, he served the following Alliance churches in Pennsylvania: Fayette City, Butler, New Castle, DuBois and Huntingdon. After retirementin 1985, he and his wife moved to Wapwallopen. They served three interim pastorates in Somerset and North East. In addition, he served as assistant district superintendent of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Western Pennsylvania District and lived in Punxsutawney, Pa., from 1965 to 1969. He is survived by his wife, Eva; three sons, Carle of Butler; Thomas of Stephensburg, NJ and Randall of Monaca, Pa.; two daughters, Margy Tripp of Wapwallopen, and Sherrie Strain of Media, Pa.; 10 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Ethel Cramer Powers and her son, Robert Cramer. Visiting hours from 2-4 and 7-9 pm, Tuesday, at Cunningham Funeral Home, 2429 Wilmington Road, New Castle, Pa. and from 10-11 am, Wednesday at First Alliance Church, 111 Mission Meade Drive, New Castle, Pa. Memorial service will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, at First Alliance Church. The Rev. Palmer Zerbe, district superintendent of the Christian and Missionary Alliance, Western Pennsylvania District, will officiate. Interment will be in the Butler County Memorial Park.
