    Robert M. "Pickhandle" Elliott Sr., 67, of Confluence died June 8, 2000
  at Select Specialty Hospital, Johnstown.  Born June 10, 1932 in Henry Clay
  Twp., Fayette Co., a son of the late Minnis Reed Elliott and Mildred
  (Buter) Close.  In addition to his parents he ws preceded in death by a
  brother James and an infant sister Lenora.  He is survived by his wife
  Gloria F. (Shartzer) Elliott, sons Glenn Edward Mitchell of Markleysburg,
  George Randall Elliott of Evans City and Robert M. Elliott Jr. of Mill Run,
  a daughter Carrie Lynn Butler at home, six grandsons, brothers O. Williard
  Close of Two Harbors, Minn., Paul Close of Markleton and Thomas Close of
  Confluence and sisters Nettie Jean Barnhart of Tennessee, Martha Jane
  metheney of Confluence, Esther Ann Longbond of Mentor, Ohio and Rhonda
  Uldirch of Markleton.  Also aunts, uncles nieces and nephews.  He was a
  retired postmaster of Addison and served the U.S. postal service for 30
  years. Former forest fire warden and deputy game warden for the Pa. Game
  Commission for over 20 years.  A member of the Confluence Community
  Ambulance service for 26 years and the Confluence Vol. Fire Dept. for 49
  years.  Friends will be received at Humbert Funeral Home, Confluence, Friday
  from 7-9 pm, Saturday 10 am to 9pm and Sunday 10 am to 1:30 pm the hour of
  service. The Rev. Dr. Arthur J. Gothen officiating.  Interment at Sansom
  Chapel Cemetery.  Family suggests memorial contributions be made to the
  Somerset Co. Book Mobile or the Confluence Vol. Fire Dept.
