Survived by his wife, Kaye (Berkey) Ellis, a native of Jennerstown, and his mother, Alma Ellis. Preceded in death by his father, Robert L. Ellis. He was a licensed real estate broker at the time of his death, also a member of the Edna Rotary Club, an ambassador for the Jackson County Chamber of Commerce, board of directors Texana Museum and Library Association, board of directors Helping Hands of Jackson County, and a member of the Jackson County Historical Commission. Also a former coordinator of the Jackson County Senior Citizens Association. He graduated from Milyb High School in Houston in 1962, was named outstanding math/science graduate, was a National Merit Scholarship semifinalist and received the Teagle Foundation Scholarship. He received a bachelor of arts degree from the New School of Social Research, New York, NY, in 1968, and a master of business administration from the University of Houston in 1976. He had been a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Edna, Texas since 1982, having served as financial secretary, chairman of stewardship committee and a lay reader of the scriptures.
