CHAUNCEY E. ELLITHORP

  Chauncey Edward Ellithorp, aged 85, died at his home at Bittinger, Md., on 
Monday, Jan. 17.
  He was born in Filmor County, Minn., Oct. 3, 1858.  He came to Garrett County, 
Md., when he was 21 years old and married Mahala Broadwater, daughter of Henry 
and Rachel Broadwater of New Germany.
  He is survived by one daughter, Amanda Mae, wife of A. J. Orendorf.  His wife 
died four years ago.
  Mr. Ellithorp was in the merchantile business for 59 years at Bittinger and 
was considered a very good businessman.  He served as director of the First 
State Bank, Grantsville, Md., for a number of years.
  His pleasing personality won him many friends in this community.
  Funeral services were held on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. A. C. Curran 
officiating, and William Winterberg, funeral director in charge.  Interment was 
made in the Grantsville cemetery.
