Dr. Charles Yoho, deputy coroner of Bedford County, attributed death to a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the neck. The deputy coroner learned that Emerick, who was a retired Baltimore & Ohio Railroad employe, had been despondent for the past four months because of ill health. Relatives told Dr. Yoho that Emerick had been brooding for several weeks. The deceased was a son of Jacob and Sarah (Smith) Emerick and was born in Londonderry Township on December 22, 1871. His wife, Mrs. Annie Emerick, died several years ago. Surviving are five children: Mrs. Virgie Smith, Ellerslie, Md.; Thomas, Samuel, Ross and Emma Emerick, all of Hyndman. He was a brother of Harry Emerick, Boswell; William Emerick, residing in Ohio, and May Emerick, Pittsburgh. Eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the Zeigler Funeral Home at Hyndman by Rev. Charles Evans, pastor of the Evangelical Church. Interment was in the Madley Cemetery.
