"Joe" Emerick, 45, of Somerset RD 4, died April 14, 1987, at Mercy Hospital, Johnstown. Born Dec. 10, 1941, in Jenner Township, son of Helen Bowser Emerick LaBrel of Rockwood and the late Bernell Emerick. Also preceded in death by brother Terry and daughter Karen. Survived by these children: Mrs. Paul (Kimberly) Ludvik of Somerset RD 6; Bernell J. Jr., Manassas, Va.; Timothy Scott and Kathleen Renee, both residing with their mother at Stoystown RD 1; and fiance Sally Bence. Brother of: Larry, married to former Rosalie Harmon, Stoystown RD 2; Dean and Douglas of Rockwood; Mrs. Bonnie Pugh of Somerset RD 1; Mrs. Joseph (Barbara) Kennick of Rockwood RD 2; and Mrs. Debra Lloyd of Somerset. Employed by Wood Explosives as a truck driver and used the CB handle of "Sharecropper". Member of Seventh Day Adventist Church, Johnstown; Robert P. Hite Post 257 American Legion of Stoystown; VFW Post 554, Somerset; and New Baltimore Sportsmen Club. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Pastor Richard I. Byrd officiating. Interment, Horner-Mt. Tabor Cemetery. American Legion memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society or the American Red Cross.
