Emerick, 76, of Berlin, died Nov. 11, 1997, at Windber Hospice. Born July 24, 1921, in Napier Township, Bedford County, son of Homer and Emma (Diehl) Emerick. Preceded in death by parents; brother, Leroy "Bill" Emerick; sisters: Mildred "Betty" Ickes and Doris Suder and grandson, Kevin Emerick. Survived by his wife of 51 years, the former Mae Bence, and these children: Richard J., married to the former Barbara Miller, Schellsburg, and Cinda, married to Jerry Anderson, Middletown. Grandchildren: Richard J. II and Ryan Michael Emerick; Nicole Elizabeth and Justin Dean Anderson. Brother of Donald, Central City; Alice Miller, Schellsburg; Homer Jr., Alum Bank; Grace Miller, Bedford; Ruth Miller, New Paris, and Janet Coughenour, Fallston, Md. Retired from Exxon Corp., Pa. Turnpike after 34 years. Member of Somerset Alliance Church, where he served as Governing Board secretary. Member of Berlin Area Historical Society and Exxon Annuitant Club. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Viewing from 9 am. until service at 10 am. Saturday at Somerset Alliance Church, Rev. Walter L. Frankenberry. Interment, Schellsburg Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be given to Regional Hospice at Windber, Windber, [sic] Pa. 15963, Friday at Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin.
