Emerick, 90, Eighth Ward, died March 28, 1998 at Lee Hospital. Born May 1, 1907 in Shanksville, son of Lee R. and Nellie E. (Walker) Emerick. Preceded in death by parents; wife, Mildred A. (Mowry) Emerick; and brother, Ernest L. Survived by daughters, Barbara A., wife of Don P. Miller, Pittsburgh; and Lucinda at home; and grandchildren, Rebecca Ann, married to Patrick Grinnals, Celebration, Fla.; and Douglas P. Miller, Bay Shore, Long Island. N.Y. He retired in 1972 after 24 years as a newsman for The Tribune-Democrat. Previously, had taught for 13 years an Shanksville-Stonycreek High School. Member of First United Methodist Church, Johnstown where for more than 25 years was the teacher of the Otterbein-Progiesae Bible Class; assistant lay leader and lay leader emeritus, and an administrative board member. Former member of the Church Trustee Board and Cambria City Mission Board of Directors. Served for many years as a member and secretary of Greater Johnstown Area Vocational-Technical School Building Authority. Earned Bachelor of Science Degree at Franklin & Marshall College and Master of Education Degree at University of Pittsburgh. Was a life member of Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity. Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at John Henderson Co. Funeral Home, 215 Central Ave., Johnstown, where service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, the Rev. Allan K. Brooks. Interment Walker Cemetery, Shanksville. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Franklin Street, U.M. Church for the Memorial fund. Daily American, March 30, 1988 [E198]
