He was born October 18, 1851 and was a farmer and blacksmith all of his life until advancing years brought on his retirement. During his late years he was totally blind and almost deaf, yet he tried to keep abreast of the times. He was a member of the Mt. Lebanon Evangelical and Reformed Church. Mr. Emerick is survived by his wife - Lydia Ellen Martz Emerick and the following children: Irving and Mrs. Harry Mosgrave, Berlin; Clarence, Walter, Mrs. James Leister and Mrs. Edison Brick, Glencoe; Melvin, Corriganville, Md., and Howard, Harvey and Nora, at home. Two sons, Norman and Robert preceded him in death. He is survived also by 50 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted Friday morning, October 3, at 10 o'clock by Rev. J. E. Gindlesperger, former pastor of the deceased. Meyersdale Republican, October 9, 1947
