Emerick, 74, Fairhope, passed away Jan. 16, 2007, at home. He was born on Oct. 25, 1932, in Fairhope, a son of the late Verdie R. "Bert" and Leora C. Emerick. He is also preceded in death by two brothers, George "Hop" Emerick husband of Helen Emerick, Meyersdale, and John H. "Big Bad John" Emerick, Fairhope; and a sister, Sharon Haggerty. He is survived by Grace A. (Jordan) Emerick, his wife of 47 years, whom he married Aug. 29, 1959; children, JoAnn McEvoy, married to Daniel, Chesapeake, Va.; Tim Emerick, married to Virginia, Hyndman; Allison Smith, married to Edward, Fairhope; Larry Emerick and fiancˇe, Missy, Fairhope; Olivia King, married to Shawn, Fairhope; 14 grandchildren, five brothers and four sisters. He worked 34 years for Jim and John Shaffer's Lumber Co., retiring in 1995. He was a life member of the Kennells Mill Sportsmen's Club, New Baltimore and Hyndman Rod and Gun clubs. He was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, 169 Clarence St., Hyndman, were a funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Terry Campbell officiating. Burial will be private at Comps Cemetery.
