Born January 5, 1978, in Meyersdale, he was the son of Brenda (Butler) Brown, Grantsville; and Bryan Emerick, Salisbury. He is survived by his stepfather, Wilbur Brown and stepmother, Elizabeth (Robinette) Emerick; stepbrother, Justin Zimmerman, stepsister, Dana Emerick; his maternal grandmother and stepgrandfather, Nellie and Donald Sarver, Markleysburg; his paternal grandparents, Betty and Leo Emerick, Glencoe; maternal step-grandmother, Elizabeth Brown, Salisbury; aunts and uncles: Debbie Butler-Boler, Ricky Butler, Lexie Lowery, Roxane Ravenscraft, Laura Caton, Stephanie Chuncho, Eric, Michael and Steven Emerick; niece, Autumn Zimmerman and cousins: Ricky Butler and Brian Durst. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Mark Butler; aunt, Robin Durst and paternal stepgrandparents, Hugh and Mary Robinette. Joe was employed by M & S Stone Quarry, Grantsville, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. Friends were received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., Grantsville, on Thursday and Friday. Services were conducted in the funeral home Saturday with the Rev. Steven Heatwole officiating. Interment was in the Butler Family Cemetery.
