Born on August 25, 1927, in Mount Zion, Somerset County, she is a daughter of the late Homer W. and Salena C. (McKim) Cummins. She is also preceded in death by brothers, James, Edwin and Homer Cummins, Jr.; and sister, JoAnne Cummins. Surviving are Fred W. Emerick, her husband of 58 years, whom she married Jan. 14, 1947; son, Keith M. Chipps and wife, Nancy, Georgia; daughters, Cheryl E. Norris and husband, Richard, Skyesville, Md.; Dawn C. Emerick and husband, Jose Carrio, York; Carla A. LeCain and husband, Dave, Bel Air, Md.; and Susan C. Pfeil and husband, Michael, Abingdon, Md.; brothers, Blair Cummins, Baltimore; Earl Cummins; and wife, Shirley, Fairhope, Arthur "Joe" Cummins, Baltimore; Robert "Bob" Cummins and wife, Diane, Georgia; Wilford "Bill" Cummins and wife, Michelle, Arizona; Arlo Cummins, Frederick, Md.; and Richard Cummins, Pittsburgh, PA; sister, Ruth Goodson and husband, Roger, Florida; sister-in-law, Jeannine Cummins, Fairhope; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Mrs. Emerick, a homemaker, loved her family and was a mother to many people. She was known for her hospitality and great cooking. She loved the Lord, and she was a member of the Fairhope Community Church. While living in Baltimore, she was a member of the Middle River Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher and a member of the Women's Missionary Union. She was a 1945 graduate of Hyndman High School. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Harvey H. Zeigler Funeral Home, 169 Clarence Street, Hyndman. A funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday at the Fairhope Community Church. The Rev. Bradley Reider officiating. Friends will be received at the church for one hour immediately prior to the service. Interment will be in Comps Cemetery, Comps Corner. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Fairhope Community Church, Fairhope, PA 15538.
