Emert, 89, of Somerset died Dec. 9, 1983, at Somerset Community Hospital. Born Feb. 22, 1894, in Somerset Township, a son of the late Edmund and Sadie (Young) Emert. Also preceded in death by his wife, the former Edna Woy; five daughters; two grandchildren; three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by these children: Mrs. Pearl Shaffer, Jenners; Monroe, Somerset; Mrs. Thelma Kowalczyk, Boswell; Mrs. Ethel Deist, Manheim; John, Somerset; Charles Ray, Dover, Ohio; and David, Somerset; 18 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren. Also survived by three brothers: Paul of Somerset; Royal of Camp Hill; and Robert of San Diego, Calif. He was a member of the Somerset Alliance Church, the UMWA, Jenner Rod and Gun Club, Laurel Ridge Sportsmen Assn. and Roxbury Sportsmen Assn. Friends received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and noon to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Richard E. Hauger Funeral Home, where services will be conducted Monday at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev.
