Lester Engle, Berlin RD 1, died May 8, 1977, in his home. He was born July 2, 1896, in Stonycreek Township, the son of the late William and Maggie (Yutzy) Engle. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Mable B. Musser, two sons and six sisters. He is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Richard (Dorothy) Custer, Stoystown RD 3; Mrs. Glenn (Jean) Long, Somerset RD 1; and Mrs. Terry (Ruth Ann) Holland, Berlin RD 3; nine grandchildren and 12 greatgrandchildren. He was a brother of Mrs. MargaretShober, Berlin, and Mrs. Alfred (Alda) Brammer, Rutledge. He was the owner-operator of the Roxburg Store for 46 years and a member of the Trinity United Church of Christ, Roxbury, where he was an elder, secretary of the consistory, and treasurer of the Sunday School. He was a member of Lodge 61 of the IOOF and American Legion Post 445, both of Berlin, and a member of the Veterans of World War I, Somerset barracks. He was a charter member, life member and secretary of the Mountain, Field and Stream Club and member of the County Federation of Sportsmen. Funeral services were held Wednesday at Jonnson and Son Funeral Home with Rev. Harold V. Seese officiating. Interment, Berlin IOOF Cemetery. The Republic, May 12, 1977 [E305]
