Engle, 68, died suddenly of coronary occlusion, Nov. 24, in Dormont, Pa. He had gone to work as usual on a contracting job building a school house, and became ill shortly after getting on the job. He was taken into the office and a doctor was called, but he died before the doctor arrived. He had been suffering from a heart weakness for some years. Mr. Engle was born at Engle's Mills, Elk Lick Township, on Jan. 15, 1880, a son of Sarah E. (Wagner) and John J. Engle. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Cora (Kretchman) Engle; one son, Paul, of Pittsburgh; six brothers: George G. Engle, Bruceton Mills, W.Va.; Calvin U. Engle, Walkersville, Md.; Irvin J. Engle, Cumberland, Md.; Samuel E. Engle, Salisbury; Lloyd L. Engle, Waynesburg, and Frank L. Engle, Salisbury; one sister, Mrs. Mary Susan Mercer, Coraopolis, and two grandchildren. The body was brought to Salisbury, Saturday, and funeral services were conducted in Thomas Funeral Chapel at 4 p.m., Sunday, with his pastor, the Rev. Mr. Berkley of Pittsburgh, officiating. Interment was made in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in charge of Mortician Stanley M. Thomas. Meyersdale Republican, December 2, 1948
