ENGLE Mrs. Maude Jane Engle, 82, Greensburg, died Feb. 6 in the Shawley Convalescent and Rest Home. Youngstown, Pa. She was blind and had fallen in December breaking her hip. She was a patient in the home for over a year. She was born Nov. 11, 1883, in Daisytown, the daughter of the late Louis and Celia McCurdy and was a survivor of the Johnstown Flood of 1889. She was the widow of E. Stanley Engle, who was born in Brothersvalley Township and died Sept. 26, 1964. Her only sister was the late Mrs. J. Nevin Hay of Brothersvalley township. A brother survives, Frank L. McCurdy, Latrobe. Numerous nieces and nephews survive. Those known in this area include Mrs. Margaret Perez, Tampa, Florida; Mrs. Ernest T. Miller, Meyersdale RD 3; John Engle Hay, Berlin RD 4; Robert E. Hay, Berlin RD 3; and Mrs. Romaine Robinson, LaVale, Md. She was a member of the First Methodist Church in Greensburg. Friends were received in the Barnhart Funeral Home in Greensburg where services were held Feb. 8 by the Rev. Kenneth L. Rutter. Interment in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park near Greensburg.
