Engleka, 47, of Milford Twp., died suddenly at Saturday noon, March 25, two hours after his wife had given birth to a son, the ninth child of the couple. Mr. Engleka had complained of feeling ill a short time prior to his death, which was attributed to a cerebral hemorrhage. He was born in Somerset County, Mar. 22, 1897, his death occurring just three days after his 47th birthday anniversary. Surviving are his wife, Viola (Ackerman) Engleka; the child mentioned, and eight other children - Mrs. Glenn Knopsnyder, Rockwood R.D. 1; Mrs. J. L. Spangler, Rockwood; Helen, Clarence Jr., Elwood, Carl, Charles and Merle, all at home. Also surviving are his stepfather, George Shaffer, Berlin, and three sisters - Mrs. O. T. Flickinger, Somerset; Mrs. Boyd Bowers, Conemaugh, and Mrs. Howard Stern, Somerset. Funeral services were conducted at 2:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at St. Paul's Church near Rockwood. Interment was made in the church cemetery under the direction of Mills and Mickey, Rockwood morticians. Meyersdale Republican, March 30, 1944
