Engleka Fatally Injured by Fall From Hay Loft BERLIN, July 3 - Ralph E. Engleka, 51, died at 2:30 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the Community Hospital, Somerset, of injuries sustained last Friday afternoon in a fall from the hay loft in the barn on his farm near Berlin. He suffered a fracture of the neck and an injury to the spinal cord. He was tripping hay in the loft when the rope on the hay fork broke. He lost his balance and fell backward to the barn floor, landing on his head. He was the son of Lewis and Elizabeth (Landis) Engleka and was a lifelong resident of Somerset County. He is survived by his wife, Clara (Deist) Engleka, and a daughter, Erma; also one brother, Howard Engleka, of Glencoe, R.D., and a sister, Mrs. Charles Glessner of Berlin R.D. He was a member of St. Luke's Reformed Church. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 2:30 p.m., at the Johnson Funeral Home, by Rev. Herman C. Snyder, pastor of the Berlin Reformed Church, officiating. Interment in Berlin I.O.O.F. Cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, July 5, 1945
