  Samuel A. Erny Sr., 65, of Glades Pike, Berlin, died Nov. 16, 1997, at
  Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown.  Born Feb. 12, 1932, in Latrobe.  Son of
  Samuel J. and Catherine (Hill) Erny.  Preceded in death by parents; brother,
  Francis, and grandson, Joshua Deist.  Survived by wife of 37 years, the
  former Delores Jerkes, and these children: Darlene, wife of Roger Brant,
  Blairsville; Samuel A. Jr. and fiancee Donna J. Huston, and Carol Lincoln,
  both of Berlin; Delores, wife of Brian Eller; Sandy, wife of David Deist;
  Connie Jerkesand Cathy, wife of Jason Blough, all of Somerset, and 11
  grandchildren.  Brother of Anna Catherine Taylor and James J. Sr., both of
  Latrobe.  Korean Conflict Army Veteran.  Member of the Latrobe American
  Legion.  Retired from Operating Engineers Local 66.  Family will receive
  friends from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at Deaner
  Funeral Horne, Berlin.  Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at
  St. Gregory's Catholic Church, Macdonaldton, Msgr. Timothy Swope
  officiating.  Interment, Berlin IOOF Cemetery.  Graveside military rite by
  Berlin American Legion and VFW.
