Tony Estnick, Sr., 63, died Sunday afternoon, fifteen minutes after he had been taken to Hazel McGilvery Hospital to be placed under an oxygen tent. Mr. Estnick had a heart attack two weeks ago while at work at the mines, and Sunday afternoon he suffered another attack. Mr. Estnick was the son of the late Joseph and Mary Estnick, and was born in Yugoslavia in 1885. He came to the United States when he was eighteen years old, spent one year in Johnstown and then came to Garrett where he had lived ever since. He was a coal miner all his life and employed by W. A. Merrill & Sons for whom he had always worked. At the time of his death, he was in charge of the battery lamps at the Slope. He received his naturalization papers in 1941. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary Comotes Estnick; four daughters, Mrs. Mary Estnick Richter, Forestville, N.Y., Annie Estnick, Somerset, Mrs. Julia Estnick Albright, Meyersdale RD, Doris Estnick at home; three sons, Tony Jr., John and Edward, all of Garrett, and by two grandchildren, Betty Albright and Gary Creed Estnick. He is also survived by one brother, Joseph, and one sister, Mary, both living in Yugoslavia. Funeral services were conducted at the late home at 9:30 a.m. with requiem mass at 10:30 at SS. Philip and James Catholic Church, Meyersdale, with the Rev. Thomas J. Houghton officiating. Interment was made in Catholic Cemetery, Meyersdale, under direction of Johnson & Sons, Berlin.
