JOSEPH A. EVEL

  Joseph A. Evel, 86, a life long and respected citizen of Berlin, died 
peacefully at his home in Berlin after a short illness, Tuesday, April 19.  He 
was born in Berlin, March 6, 1863, a son of Jacob and Amanda (Atcheson) Evel, 
and was employed as clerk in the Heffley Hardware for many years.  Prior to that 
he was employed in the William H. Menges shoe store.
  He was a member of Berlin Evangelical and Reformed Church, of the I.O.O.F. for 
53 years, and of the Berlin Band.
  Surviving are his wife, Lucy Dively Evel, and several nieces and nephews.
  Funeral services were held in Johnson & Son Funeral Home, Friday at 3:30 p.m., 
with the Rev. D. S. Stephan, D.D., officiating.
