Everly COVE, Md., Aug. 13 - Hosea Benton Everly, born Aug. 26, 1875, at Bruceton Mills, W.Va., passed away at 4 o'clock Tuesday afternoon, Aug. 6, 1940, in the Meyers Hospital, Philippi, W.Va., where he had been a patient for five days, owing to a heart disease that he had suffered from for about one year. Two days before his death he was stricken with pneumonia. Mr. Everly spent his boyhood days in the Bruceton Mills section, and at the age of 13 was baptized and became a member of the M.E. Church at that place. When a young man he came to this section with a lumber company and made many friends among the people of the Cove. In June, 1911, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Schlossnagle. Left to mourn his departure are his wife, a daughter, Mildred, wife of Kester Turner, of Clarksburg, W.Va.; a son, Carl Everly, of Oakland, Md.; a sister, Mrs. Leota King, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; a brother, Charles Everly, of Lake Lynn, Pa., and a large number of nieces and nephews and many friends. Funeral services were conducted in the M.E. Church at Friendsville, Friday morning, by Rev. Sanford Ryan of Brandonvile, W.Va. The pallbearers were some of his very best friends - Ira Frazee, Morgan Fike, Erwin Jenkins, Lewis and Roy Harmon and Melchor Kolb. Burial was in the German Lutheran Cemetery at Cove, under the direction of Undertaker Winterberg. Meyersdale Republican, August 15, 1940
