Faidley Native of Greenville Twp. Expires in Nebraska at Ripe Old Age A letter from Lloyd H. Faidley, Grand Island, Nebraska, brings us the sad news of the death of his father, Harvey F. Faidley, on the morning of February 20, last, at the home of his son in that city. He was active and in good health until the day before his demise, when he suffered a cerebral hemorrhage which proved fatal within 24 hours. Harvey Franklin Faidley was the youngest of a family of nine children of the late Elijah J. and Elizabeth (Gumbert) Faidley. He was born on the William Dietle farm in Greenville Township, Somerset County, Pa., May 12, 1861, and died in the 81st year of his age. His education was acquired in the district schools of Greenville and Summit Townships, the teachers' normal schools of Meyersdale, and one term in Ashland College, Ashland, Ohio. He began teaching district school at the age of 16, in 1877, followed teaching in Pennsylvania and Iowa until 1883 when he went to Burr Oak, Kansas where he engaged in the merchantile business. In 1885 he entered the newspaper field, editing and publishing the Burr Oak (Kansas) Herald, until 1890 when he entered the Government service as a railway postal clerk, and served in that capacity on Western railways until 1923, when he reached the retirement age. At this time he was living in St. Louis, Mo., having located there in 1894. After his retirement in 1923, he moved to Columbus, Nebraska, where he resided until his removal to Grand Island, in July 1941, where he and his wife had since made their home with their son. On July 12, 1885, while living at Burr Oak, Kansas, Mr. Faidley married Miss Linnie Broadwater of Glencoe, Pa., daughter of the late Ephraim and Lydia (Tressler) Broadwater. He is survived by his wife and one son, Lloyd H. Faidley, of Grand Island, Neb., and one sister, Mrs. Catherine Eichorn, of Weldona, Colorado. They left no grandchildren. He was preceded in death by an infant son in 1891, and an adult son, Harry C. Faidley, in 1931. He was a Mason and belonged to the Societies of the Sons of the American Revolution and of the War of 1812. Funeral services for Mr. Faidley were held at the family home, Feb. 25, with Rev. L. F. Sweetland, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Attending from out of the city were Luke H. Broadwater, Wilmington, Del.; Miss Belle Cole, Findlay, Ohio; Mr. and Mrs. Harvey M. Faidley, Miss Wanda Faidley and Frank Faidley, Des Moines, Ia.; Dr. and Mrs. W. M. Trotter, Maxwell, Ia.; Mrs. Ed C. Hill, Ft. Morris, Ill., and Dr. and Mrs. Paul B.
