Faidley, died shortly after 8 o'clock Sunday morning, at the home of her son, Lloyd H. Faidley, Grand Island, Neb., May 2. Although a semi-invalid as the result of a fall nearly three years ago, Mrs. Faidley appeared in her customary excellent health until only a few hours before her death. Since the fall in which she suffered a hip fracture, she had been compelled to use crutches. Funeral services were held at 2:30 o'clock, Wednesday afternoon, May 5, at her son's home. The Rev. Leslie F. Sweetland, Presbyterian pastor, conducted the rites, with burial in the family plot in Grand Island Cemetery. Relatives present at the funeral services from distant places were Luke H. Broadwater, Wilmington, Del.; Belle Cole, Findlay, Ohio; Mrs. Ruth S. Thompson, Sr., Pasadena, Cal.; Frank Faidley, Des Moines, Iowa; Dr. and Mrs. Wm. M. Trotter, Maxwell, Iowa; Mr. and Mrs. Ed Hill, Mt. Morris, Ill.; Mrs. Clara Schaefer, Weldona, Colo.; Mr. and Mrs. Dan Henninger, Davenport, Iowa; Mrs. Joan Cemens, Waterloo, Iowa; Dr. Paul B. Schaefer, Leonard Miller, Mrs. Ray Jourdan, Miss Jessie Groer, and Peter W. Lakers, Columbus, Neb. Mrs. Faidley, daughter of Ephriam and Lydia Tressler Broadwater, was born Dec. 1, 1860, near Glencoe, Somerset County, Pa., the eighth in a family of 13 children. On July 12, 1885, she married Harvey F. Faidley, born and reared near Meyersdale, youngest son of Elijah Faidley, at Glencoe, and they immediately established their home at Burr Oak, Kansas, where her husband had already engaged in business as editor and publisher of the Burr Oak Herald. Three sons were born of them: Harry C., who died at Grand Island, Neb., Feb. 9, 1931; Lloyd, with whom they made their last home, and a son who passed away in infancy. The family moved to Atchison, Kansas in 1890, and four years later to St. Louis, the parental home until 1923, when Mr. and Mrs. Faidley moved to Columbus, Neb., where their son Lloyd was then in business. They moved to Grand Island to make their home with Lloyd in July, 1941. Mr. Faidley died Feb. 20, 1942. Surviving besides the son, Lloyd, is a brother, Luke H. Broadwater, of Wilmington, Del. Harvey F. Faidley spent the best years of his life in the railway mail service while he was a resident of St. Louis, Mo. He was a schoolmate of the senior editor of The Meyersdale Republican in Meyersdale in 1875, and one of his most highly esteemed friends for more than 65 years. Meyersdale Republican, May 20, 1943
