All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ MATILDA FAILINGER Funeral services for Mrs. Matilda Failinger, aged 77 years, who died at her home Sunday morning, June 3, were held at the Winterberg Funeral Home, Tuesday afternoon, Rev. E. E. Feckincher of the German Lutheran Church, Cove, Md., officiated. The pallbearers were Olen Yoder, W. Harold Miller, L. B. Schaefer, S. E. Duckworth, Harry Lohr and A. G. Reichenbecher. Interment was made in the Addison Cemetery, Addison, Pa. Mrs. Failinger was the daughter of the late William and Louise Hockman and was born July 27, 1867, at Cove, Md. She was the last member of a family of nine children, and lived to be the oldest. On Dec. 6, 1886, she married John Failinger, who passed away a good many years ago. She lived on the Ryland farm on the National Highway (U.S. Route 40) near the Mason and Dixon Line, a short distance west of Keyser's Ridge, for 50 years, and in Grantsville the last three years. Surviving are one daughter, Mrs. Christina Beal, and one son, William H. Failinger, Grantsville; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. One grandson, Cpl. Raymond Failinger, is in the U.S. Army in Holland. Mrs. Failinger had been confined to her bed for nine weeks and was stricken with cerebral hemorrhage last Friday.
