Also survived by his dear friend and loving companion of 32 years, Patricia Flavin, Somerset. Bill attended Franklin Regional School for several years and graduated from Greensburg Salem High School. He received a degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Oklahoma State University while in the Air Force. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943 in Mobile, Ala., and later entered the Army Aviation Cadet Program. He was commissioned a second Lieutenant. During his 30 years in the military, he was attached to the French Air Force as a flight instructor for French aviators flying B-25's and AT-6's until the end of World War II. During the Korean War he flew B-26's and SAW C131's and in the Air Defense Command flew B-29's. In the Vietnam War, he flew psychological warfare in U-10's and C-47's. Following that, he was assigned to the Military Aircraft Command flying C-141's and C-5's. At the end of hostilities and prior to his retirement from the USAF, he was based in Bermuda as director of operations flying the C-54. Later, he was employed as a corporate pilot for Pace Pipeline for several years before his retirement. He felt fortunate that he was able to enjoy the career he did his entire working career - that was flying. Bill will be remembered as a kind and compassionate man who was always a gentleman to everyone he met. Everyone who knew Bill loved him and his kind ways. At Bill's request, there will be no viewing or visitation. A memorial church service will be conducted at a later date by the Rev. Mark Zimmerman, Bill's good friend and pastor at Somerset Anglican Fellowship, where Bill was very active in church activities and enjoyed the companionship of the parishioners. He will also be missed by many of his friends at St. Francis-in-the-Fields Church where he had been active in Bible study and Sunday school classes. Should friends desire, memorial remembrances may be made in Col. Faurot's name to Somerset Anglican Fellowship, 305 Georgian Place, Somerset, PA 15501 or a charitable association of one's personal choice.
