Feather, 80, Windber, went home to be with the Lord, Aug. 5, 2008, at Windber Hospice . He was born July 5, 1928, in King, son of the late Charles D. and Pearl K.(Manges) Feather. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Lee and William Neal. He married Emmalene Johnston Aug. 20, 1947, in Winchester, Va. Surviving are his wife, of Windber; a daughter, Barbette Jones, Lee's Summit, Mo.; four sons, Robert C. and wife, Terri, and Brett M. and wife, Sally, all of Windber; William D. and wife, Kathy, Granite Quarry, N.C.; and John B. and wife, Lori, Concord, N.C.; and 13 grandchildren, Scott, Lindsay and Kerry Jones and their father, Robert; Alyssa, Caitlin, Joseph, Thomas, Billie Marie, Kaliam, Jenelle, Adam, Trisha and Austin Feather. Also surviving are four sisters, Mary Cameron and Dorothy Miller, both of King; Betty Horner, Roaring Spring; Eleanor Rice-Shallop, Duncansville; and a brother, Carl Feather, Bedford. Bob was an active member of the Scalp Level Trinity United Methodist Church. He founded Bob Feather Homes in 1957 and also owned Feather Nest Communities. He previously was employed as a dispatcher at Interstate Motor Freight. He was a 1947 graduate of Claysburg High School. He was a member and past president of the Windber Lion's Club and received the Melvin Jones Fellow in 2006, a member and past president of the Pennsylvania Home Builders Association of the Alleghenies, a member of the Pennsylvania Manufactured Housing Association, and served on the Boards of the Pennsylvania Housing Research Center, Penn State and the Hiram G. Andrews Center. Bob enjoyed traveling, working and spending time with his family. Friends will be received from 2 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Scalp Level Trinity United Methodist Church. A Praise service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church with the Rev. Ernie Perry officiating. Interment at Bedford County Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the Scalp Level Trinity United Methodist Church, 751 Horn Road, Windber, PA 15963. A bonfire celebration of Bob's life will be held Saturday evening at the Feather Farm on Paint Street. Arrangements by Leslie-Miller Funeral Home, Claysburg.
